Lucas di Grassi was the best Brazilian in the second round of the International Challenge of Stars, held at the end of Sunday morning (4) in Karting Arena Sapiens in Florianópolis (SC), finishing the race in second place. The race was won by Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari who, with the declassification of Frenchman Jules Bianchi - who had crossed the finish line first - for your kart being underweight, took the title of champion of this year's event. Felipe Massa was second in the number of points, followed by Di Grassi, 2010 champion.
I'm very happy with the result, because it was the best Brazilian in the race and finishing third in scoring. The event is cool too, and every year we only see growth. I love racing here, "said Lucas, who with an eighth place finish in Saturday's race started from pole position on Sunday.
Di Grassi is a positive balance of the weekend. "We started having trouble with an engine that was not so cool. We have stirred enough, we changed the carburetor, and then the rain came in the first race, which helped a lot. I had a hit with the (Vitantonio) Liuzzi I played there for the bottom of the platoon, but I could see moving up to finish in eighth position, "he recalled. "With a new drawing engine for Sunday, I got the engine (Ricardo) Zonta been using so far, and it was much better than my previous," said the pilot, which is sponsored by Aethra, Government of Goiás, Schioppa, youngest of tires, Pirelli, and Locaweb Eurobike.
In seven editions held, Luke accumulates three third places, a vice-championship and a title. Only in one year the pilot who developed this year Pirelli tires in Formula 1 was not on the podium in 2009.
Now, Di Grassi is preparing to compete in the 500 Miles of the Beto Carrero World, in Penha (SC), next weekend. He teams up alongside Felipe Massa.
