After finishing the Challenge of the Stars with the third place, Lucas di Grassi back to go-kart in Santa Catarina this weekend. Forming double with Felipe Massa, the pilot dispute the 500 Miles of Beto Carrero World in Penha (SC). It will be the first time that the then 500 Miles of Granja Viana happen in a new track, especially designed and built for the event.
"You start from scratch. Although the regulation is practically the same, play a long race like this on a track that is unknown to all riders, will put everyone on the same level, at least in practice and in the early part of the race . Who better understanding and earlier as the kart will run on new track, you can do better, "said Di Grassi.
"It's a complicated race, where the speed factor is not as decisive as well. The constancy, regularity, the wisdom of the kart, and especially lucky (to avoid any confusion on the track) relies heavily on such events," noted Lucas , who won the Indianapolis 500 in 2008, teamed with Rubens Barrichello and Tony Kanaan, and in 2009, alongside Felipe Massa.
"It will be a more balanced competition," said the pilot of 27 years, two karts that will drive the team: a split between him and Felipe Massa, and one that will, in addition to Ferrari, Popo Bueno, Dudu Massa, William Smith and Luir Miranda.
"We hope to write our name in the history of Beto Carreiro as the first winners of the new track," said Lucas.
The race will be broadcast live by Channel News Record.
