With the 2011 Formula 1 season ended, all the focus is now facing the next year. Mainly pilots, who seek a place in the sun.
Despite the few places available, the one dealing with high expectations is Lucas di Grassi, mainly for having trained the whole year of testing the Pirelli tires -, something very similar to Nick Heidfeld, who served the same function in 2010 and managed to run tests by Sauber and Renault.
"Being a pilot for Pirelli this year helped me a lot in mileage. The fact of developing tires for 2012 makes me comfortable in a technical position to obtain a job, but there's the financial side, it sticks," says the Paulista, which recognizes the need to complete a sponsorship deal.
"As everyone knows, we have pilots with many sponsorships and this raises the market price. I have proposed, but I have to sponsor. The door is not closed and we are working," continues Luke, who does not rule occupy a reserve function or follow Pirelli, alternating with other high-profile championships.
"If it works, I am in F-1. Otherwise, try to be below the reserve or Pirelli, alternating with other world class. Without doubt, the most important are Le Mans Series and DTM. I run into one of these two is not in F-1 ", he adds.
