Despite some historical differences, surfing in Hawaii seems to have arisen, and was initially charged by the local nobility. The first reports were made about surfing the web browser James Cook in 1778, when he discovered the Hawaiian archipelago. It was only when Duke Kahanamoku, a Hawaiian now regarded as the father of modern surfing, was Olympic gold medalist in 1912 Olympics in Stockholm, the sport began to gain international fame. In the 70's and 80's surfing spreads throughout the world, with professional championships. The major championships are organized by ASP-Association of Surfing Professionals.
