The sporting director of Pirelli, Paul Hembery, approved the work of Lucas di Grassi as test driver and said that if the Italian tire supplier remain in F1 in 2014, the Brazilian has a good chance of retaining his current position. Pirelli's contract with F1 expires at the end of 2013, but the company has shown interest in following in the category.
"Di Grassi has been a very good rider for us. He is a very consistent rider and fast and we are very pleased with his work. We're not sure what we will do next year, because we depend renewal [with the FIA] to see what will happen in 2014. However, if we follow [in F1], Lucas is a strong name to be considered, "said the leader.
